Have you ever wanted to read poetry but felt like it was unattainable? Me too.
I always loved reading a good poem, but found the prospect of wading through the sea of options to be a daunting task. I knew the poetry gems were there, but how to find them? Just picking one at random felt like a waste of time. I wanted the good stuff, served to me on a silver platter.
In a period of life as busy as mine, I just needed someone to tell me what was good and trust that they knew what they were talking about. Not knowing where to start usually ended in a wistful acceptance that this must be a dream for another time.
I was lamenting this very thing to a professor friend of mine, when he suggested I stopped overthinking it and allow him to send me 25 poems he thought well worth reading. I spent the next year slowly making my way through this list; trusting it was a good place to begin. I read through them, and it changed the way I experienced poetry.
This is how Postmarked Poetry was born. Now, I want to be that guide for you.
Every month, I’ll send you one short poem — This is not a list of the greatest poems of all time, but poems that I believe are well worth your time.
You can read them, like them, hate them, or let them inspire your own journey into poetry. The more poems you read, the more you will understand what speaks to you and what doesn't.
